DAY OF RUSSIA MARKED IN TRIVANDRUM

Russian House in Trivandrum and the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation jointly organised a webinar to mark the DAY OF RUSSIA. The programme held on 12 June 2021.

First Deputy Chairman of the Federal Council of the Russian Federation on economic affairs, former Minister of Labour and Social Security of Russia, Senator Dr Sergey Kalashnikov, inaugurated the webinar. In his address, Dr Kalashnikov said that Russia was emerging as a global leader and would remain as a great nation that would stand for world peace. " Both Russia and India share many common factors. The cooperation between​ these two time-tested strategic partners is necessary for a stable world," said Dr Sergei Kalashnikov, who is also the chairman of the Russian Association for International Cooperation.

Video message from the Ambassador of the Russian Federation H E.Mr Nikolai Kudashev was played. In his message, the Ambassador emphasised the role of Russian- Indian relationship for healthy world order. He congratulated Russian compatriots and Indian friends on the occasion of the Russian Day.

Former Member of Parliament and representative of Government of Kerala in New Delhi, Dr A.Sampath was the Guest of Honour. He stressed the contribution of Russia in helping underdeveloped and developing nations in the present geopolitical situation. "Russia has proved as a leader when the world is going through a tough period. Especially due to the outbreak of pandemic COVID19, " he said.

Mr Sudhir Pal Sabharwal, Senior Vice-chairman of the India-Russia Foundation, Mr P.S. Sreekumar, Registrar of the Institute of Policy Research, Government of Kerala and Dr Anilkumar. P, Head of the Department of Political Science, Government College, Aluva also spoke on this occasion.

Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director of the Russian House in Trivandrum, presided over the function.​

Russian singer Olga Varvus presented Russian patriotic songs from Moscow.
