A year-long festival to mark the 95th anniversary of ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO is being celebrated in 2020 under the auspices of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum.
The official inauguration of the festival took place on January 13, 2020, at the Udaya Samudra Hotel in Trivandrum.
A specially invited team of dignitaries performed the cutting of cake as a mark of celebrating the Jubilee Year. The dignitaries comprised Mr. S. Krishna Kumar I.A.S. (Retd.), former Minister, Government of India, former Secretary of the Friends of the Soviet Union (FSU)- a social organisation founded on al-India basis for strengthening people-to-people diplomacy with Russia- Mr. Perumbadavam Sreedharan, noted Malayalam writer, Mr. K.P. Mohanan, journalist, Mr. Mahipal, popular Malayalam film actor, and Mrs. Usha Krishna Kumar, General Secretary, Indo-Russian Women’s Club.
In his address, Mr. Krihs Kumar said that people’s diplomacy is the pillar of the relationship between India and Russia. He further noted: “VOKS, SSOD, ROSZARUBEZHCENTRE AND ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO have been playing a significant role in showcasing the face of Russia and its culture”.
Mr. Rajgopal Iyer, Chief Executive Officer of the UDS Group, and Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation, Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum, also spoke on the occasion.
The official inaugural ceremony was followed by the Russian folk music concert by Twins Group from Barnaul. Russian Food Festival at Udaya Samudra Hotel, Craft Workshop Master class by Soloneshendkaya Children’s Art School from Altai at the RCSC in Trivandrum, Seminar on People’s Diplomacy and Tourism, etc., are being organised from January 14 to 16, 2020 as part of the inauguration of the Festival of People’s Diplomacy.
