July 20, 2018 a literary evening, dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of the Great Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Representation of Rossotrudnichestvo in India jointly with the literary society Parichay Sahitya Parishad and included a lecture and multimedia presentation.
Guests and participants of the evening were well-known Indian poets and writers, literary critics, translators and journalists, as well as students of the Russian Language Institute of the RCSC and compatriots.
The evening was opened by the director of the Institute of the Russian Language Tatyana Shipilova. Ms. Shipilova made a lecture and a multimedia presentation on the life and creative path of Vladimir Mayakovsky. She especially noted the fact that Mayakovsky was listening intently to the pulse of his time and was constantly looking for new poetry solutions that would correspond to the spirit of a turning point in the history of Russia.
After the presentation, the guests of the literary evening were presented with a thematic book exhibition, which included collections of poems by the great poet in Russian, English and Hindi.
The evening ended with the performance of Indian poets and writers who shared their impressions of Vladimir Mayakovsky's work, and also read their own works.
