The International Women’s Day was marked at a colourful ceremony, organised at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Trivandrum on March 8, 2017 in the framework of the International Project "Russia - Love Without Borders". The Russian compatriots as well as the Russian nationals, who had arrived in the city, participated in the function.
The function started with the conduct of a musical concert staged by Mr. Narayanan Sangameswaran. He dedicated his songs to both Russian and Indian women.
In his welcome address, Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director, RCSC in Trivandrum, noted that the International Women’s Day had become the second most important event in Russia after the New Year celebrations. Unfortunately, people in many parts of the world have a tendency to say that International Women’s Day is simply commemorated, while in Russia it is celebrated in the right perspective on March 8 every year. It is indeed a family function in Russia. “Recently, the Government of the Russian Federation introduced a new Federal Programme: the Day of Faith, Family and Love. It is becoming the third important family event in Russia”, Mr. R.Nair concluded.
The function was attended by more than 30 Russian ladies. Both Russian and Indian men honoured them with flowers. Russian nationals narrated how the International Women’s Day is celebrated in Russia.
Mr. Dathan Nair, Editor, Ayurveda Journal in Russia, was also present on the occasion.
