Day of Russian Language, Literature and Culture Marked at the RCSC in New Delhi

The Day of Russian Language, Literature and Culture, dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Russia and India, was held at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi on February 15, 2017.

More than 200 Russian language students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Amity University, NOIDA, BPS Mahila Viswavidyalaya, Sonipat, and the Institute of Russian Language (IRL) of the RCSC, participated in the programmes comprising Olympiad on Russian Language, Essay writing competition, competition of interpreters, costumes, song and dance contests, Poetry recitation on “Russian Poetry”, and Quiz on “What do I Know about Russia”.

Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, President, Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (INDAPRYAL), was the Head of the Jury members on the competition.

In the competitions, maximum score points were won by students of DU, JNU and IRL of the RCSC. Certificates, Russian souvenirs, books and text books on Russian language and literature were presented to the prize-winners by Prof. Kumar after the conclusion of the competitions.

The excellent performance by the Indian students testified to the fact that they possess an ardent interest and high enthusiasm in mastering Russian language with sufficient ability to grasp Russian art, culture and history. The event proved to be a solid factor of growing interest in India’s young generation to strengthen their knowledge about Russia and learn more about Russia, a clear indication of better prospect on bilateral relations between Russia and India in the years to come.
