The Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Trivandrum organized a number of different functions to celebrate the Day of Russia. The events included the seminar “Russia as a global leader in a Multipolar World”, an international webinar, elocution competition and the photo exhibition “Russia yesterday and today”
The international webinar was attended by the eminent scholars from India and Russia: Former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations Mr T.P Sreenivasan, Dr Georgiy Toloraya, Vice Chairman of the National Committee on BRICS (Russia), Major Dalbir Singh, Co-Chairman, International Organisation “Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia”, Mr Vladimir Polozkov, Secretary-General, Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAIC) and vice-president of Friendship Society with India, Mr Anton Chernov, Consul, Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, Mr Sudhir Pal Sabharwal, Senior Vice President of the India- Russia Foundation, poet Vladislav Melenko etc.
In their address, Mr T.P Sreenivasan and Mr Vladimir Polozkov talked about the role of Russia in the present geopolitical situation as the main proponent of the new multipolar world order.
Georgiy Toloraya spoke about the Russian chairmanship in the BRICS this year: the events already held and planned for the second part of this year, as well as the main priorities for the development of cooperation between the participating countries. While Major Dalbir Singh touched upon the main milestones of the development of the Russian-Indian relations in this century.
After the webinar, students from various countries, who participated in the elocution competition titled “Russia - leader of the World and my country” were awarded the prizes. Ms Takhmina Sherapova from Tajikistan won the first prize, while Mr Ameen Ali Akhmad Algamal from Yemen got the second prize. Mr Enayethullah Rehmi from Afghanistan was in the third place. Ms Kavitha Nair, Asst. Director of the Centre coordinated the event.
On the same day, the seminar titled “Russia as a global leader in a multipolar world” was held at RCSC. Dr Anilkumar, Head of the Department of Political Science, Alappuzha Government College inaugurated the seminar. Dr Gopakumar, Head of the Department of History, University of Kerala delivered the keynote address. Mr Ratheesh C.Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Trivandrum presided over the function.
After the seminar, the photo exhibition “RUSSIA- YESTERDAY AND TODAY” was held at the art gallery of RCSC. The exhibition highlighted the history of Russia, modern Russia and its achievements in various spheres.
