This was also the first event of the one-year-long programme of celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Russia and India, organised by the Representation of the Federal Agency ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO, Moscow, and five RCSCs all over India.
The function was attended by an elite gathering comprising Heads and senior diplomats of Foreign Diplomatic Missions in New Delhi, former Indian envoys to Russia, Indian cultural and political elite, professors and students of leading Indian universities, activists of partner NGOs, Indian graduates of Soviet / Russian universities, Russian compatriots, music-lovers, critics and media persons.
The Stilyagi Band played more than 20 songs which included Russian, English, Italian, even rendering Bollywood Hindi numbers such as “Goron ki na kalon ki, duniya hai dilwalon ki” from the movie “Disco Dancer” and “Matlabi” from the movie “Roy” to the great delight of the Indian audience They also performed popular Rock-‘n-Roll music and Russian folk songs encouraging the enthusiastic participation of the audience. The mellifluous music and rhythmic steps synchronised with the rhythm of the band to the accompaniment of guitar enhanced the ecstasy of the audience. The programme was accompanied by the colourful performance of dance by artists of the “Stylish Shake” group.
The artists consisted of Mr. Alexei Kalugin (soloist), Ms. Anastasia Pugach (soloist), Mr. Valery Chernov (drum), Mr. Oleg Kolokov (buzz guitar), Mr. Ivan Sklyar (piano), Mr. Ilya Simakov (saxophone), and Mr. Dmitry Obalenski (director, designer and solo guitarist).
After the performance, Mr. Mr. Anatoly Kargapolov, Minister-Counsellor, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, along with Mr. Fedor Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC, felicitated the artists, presenting them with flowers.
