RCSC IN TRIVANDRUM MARKS ANNIVERSARY OF INDO-RUSSIAN WOMEN’S FORUM

Indo-Russian Women’s Forum in Trivandrum assumed a new dimension when its 10th anniversary was celebrated under the aegis of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC). The celebration consisted of a seminar, a music concert and the presentation of a book on paintings by Russian artists. The event was held in the Roerich Hall of the RCSC in Trivandrum.

Advocate Rakhi Ravikumar, Deputy Mayor of Trivandrum, inaugurated the celebrations.

In her address, Advocate Rakhi Ravikumar hailed the significant role of women in soft power. She noted: “Literature, films, tourism, and cultural exchange programs contribute greatly to the people-to-people diplomacy. Women working in these spheres provide impetus to strengthening good relations among nations. The Women’s Forum creates a forum for our people to know more about the culture and traditions of a friendly nation like Russia”.

Movie actress and President of the Indo-Russian Women’s Forum, Mrs. Sona Nair, presided over the function.

In her address, Mrs. Sona Nair pointed out that an association with the RCSC in Trivandrum the Forum would organize a Festival of Films by women directors from Russia, and also conduct an exhibition of paintings by the artists from India and Russia.

Ms. Yana Filippova, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Altai State Pedagogical University and famous singer in Siberia, Mrs. Ekatarina Sorokima, Artist and Representative of Russian Compatriots in the United States, and Ms. Lakshmi Padmam, TV Journalist, also spoke on the occasion. Mrs. Kavita Nair, Secretary, Indo-Russian Women’s Forum and Chief Coordinator of Events at the RCSC, welcomed the gathering.

The formal function was followed by a music concert by Yana Filippova
