As a matter of fact, tourism plays a key role in promoting peoples’ diplomacy. A testimony to this reality emerged when over 60 people from Trivandrum, who visited Russia in different period of time, gathered at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum for a round table talk «Tourism to promote people’s diplomacy».
The function was organised in association with the “Hi, Russia” initiative which is a joint programme by the Indo-Russian Tourism Club, Malayala Manorama Daily and Kerala Travels.
The occasion turned momentous when the people shared their valuable impression on the development in their favourite destination, namely Russia.
At the meeting Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation and Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum, briefed on the new initiative of the Government of the Russian Federation for the development of tourism in Russia.
Mr. Ratheesh Nair further said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was drafting a new E-Visa policy, which will attract more foreign tourists to the country.
Mrs. Jaya Chandrahasan, Managing Director, Keerala Travels, also spoke on the occasion.
More than 10 people shared their travel experience at the meeting. The photo exhibition of 29 photos, showcasing visits to Russia of Indian tourists, was presented at the function.
