The Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Trivandrum marked the June edition of the 12-month-long celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory of Soviet People over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) on June 18, 2019
As part of the grant celebration, the Centre organised a 3-day-long Exhibition of Photographs, Paintings and Posters to mark the 45th Memorial Day of Marshal Georgy Zhukov, who was the Soviet Army General and later became the Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union in World War II.
Marshal Zhukov participated in multiple battles, ultimately commanding the Belorussian Front in the Battle in Berlin. He played a major role in the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II. Hence, with honour, Russians call him the Marshal of Victory.
More than 30 photographs were on display at the Exhibition at the Roerich Art Gallery of the RCSC. They included his childhood photographs as a young army officer, photos from the war front, participation in the Victory Day Parade, etc. Photographs, which were taken during his visit to India, were also exhibited. Photographs of the monument to Marshal Zhukov also included in the exhibition.
