RUSSIAN-INDIAN JOINT EFFORTS TO INTENSIFY RELATIONS

A Mutual Agreement was signed between the Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAIC) and Friendship Society with India, and the India-Russia Foundation (IRF). The objective of the agreement was to intensify the bilateral relations between Russia and India through joint efforts and promote friendship and cooperation through people-to-people diplomacy.

The agreement was signed at the Embassy of the Russian Federation by Prof. Sergey Kalashnikov, Chairman of Presidium, RAIC, and Friendship Society with India, Member of the Federation Council of Russia, and by Mr. Bhuvaneswar Kalita, M.P. Chairman, India-Russia Foundation.

Later on the day, The Evening of Russia – India Friendship, jointly organised by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi on February 18, 2019, turned out to be a historical event in the life of the RCSC.    

Introducing the high-level Russian delegation, Mr. Fedor Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC, rightly described the occasion as a historical one in the history of the RCSC. The present venture is indeed unprecedented, he said.

Citing the importance of the mutual agreement, Prof. Kalashnikov said that it was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen and improve our relations since our relations are unique in nature.  RAIC is bent upon intensifying our relations, he noted.

Underlining the smooth and warm relations between our two countries, Mr. R. N. Anil reiterated the need to further strive for better relations in the light of the mutual agreement both sides have entered into.

In an emotional appeal, Major Dalbir Singh, Co-President of the International Organisation “Assembly of the Peoples of EURASIA”, to bring about all-out efforts of strengthening the bilateral ties with Russia, the one and only country among the comity of nations to stand firmly with India in times of peace and crisis, particularly at international forums.

While warmly welcoming the Russian delegation and the sincere initiatives taken by Russia, Mr. J.P.  Agarwal, former M.P. and former President of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), hailed the commendable efforts of RCSC. He felicitated the Russian delegates.

H.E. Mr. Nikolai Kudashev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India, observed that the vibrant and unique relations between Russia and India have bright future, He hoped that the present laudable measures taken by the RAIC and IRF would go a long way in cementing the on-going multi-dimensional activities.

Mr. Shilnikov Evgenii, President, RAIC, hoped that all the noble aims of our organisation would be fulfilled in the years to come.

Mr. Vladimir Polozkov, Vice President, RAIC, recalled his association with the RCSC when he was the Director in early 2002. He hoped that Russia and India would achieve new heights in our relations. He also presented souvenirs of the organisation to the distinguished guests.

An Exhibition of Painting “Russian Landscapes” by the Russian artist Mr. Konstantin Putinsev was also opened on the occasion. The Russian artist shared his impressions on how he chose to have India as a dear subject in his art of painting.

Following the official part of the event, the Russian singer Olga Varvus entertained the audience with her brilliant performance.
