The traditional Days of Russian Language and Culture, jointly organised by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi and the Institute of the Russian Language of the RCSC, was marked on February 5 and 6, 2019.
The two-day programme comprised Olympiad in Russian Language, Quiz in English, poetry recitation competition, dance and music competition, costume competition, translation competition, essay competition, poster-making competition, etc.
On February 5, students from DPS Dwarka, Bluebells International School, Amity School, Saket, Amity School, Ghaziabad, Amity School, Noida, Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nilak Nagar and Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden.
On February 6, students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), Jamia Millia Islamia, Institute of Russian Language of the RCSC (IRL), B.R. Ambedkar Univiersity, Agra, Amity University, Gurgaon, Chowdhury Charan Sing University, Meerut, Indira Gandhi National Open University and BPS Mahila Viswa Vidyalaya, Sonepat took part.
Regarding the performance by students of schools, in the competition, DPS Dwarka scored the highest points and Bluebells International School stood second.
In posters-making competition, Amity School, Gaziabad stood first, DPS Dwarka second and Amity, Noida, third. In poetry recitation, Bluebells International School got first, DPS Dwarka second and the same school third prizes. In quiz in English on Russia, DPS Dwarka stood furst, Bluebells International School second and Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden third. In the Olympiad in Russian, DPS Dwarka stood first and Bluebells International School second. In costume competition, DPS Dwarka won the first prize. In dance competition, Greenway Modern School got the first, DPS Dwarka second and Amity School, Gaziabad third prizes. In the song competition, DPS Dwarka received the first prize, and Bluebell International School second prize.
As far as the results on the participation in competition by students of universities are concerned, in the item-wise competitions, JNU won the first place and the DU the second place judging their overall performances.
In the English Quiz, CCS University stood first, RCSC stood second and ,DU, JNU and Amity obtained third position. In Olympiad in Russian, JNU stood first, RCSC second and DU third. In poetry recitation, BR Ambedkar University got first position with the excellent performance of Ashu Kumar and JNU won second position thanks to the good performance of Lakshya Kishore. In song competition, again JNU won first position and Ambadkar University second position thanks to Ashu Kumar. In dance competition, JNU got first, DU second and Amity University third position. In costume competition, DU, JNU and Amity won prizes. The results of poster-making, translation and essay competition will be announced later.
The Jury was led by Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, President, INDAPRYAL, who distributed certificates, Russian souvenirs and books on Russian language and literature to the winners.
The excellent performance by the Indian students testified to the fact that they possess an ardent interest ad high enthusiasm in mastering Russian language with sufficient ability to grasp Russian language, art, culture and history. The event proved to be a solid factor of growing interest in India’s young generation to strengthen their knowledge about Russia and learn more about Russia, a clear indication of better prospect on better relations between Russia and India in the years to come.
