Painting Exhibition to Mark 70th Anniversary of Russian-Indian Diplomatic Ties at the RCSC in Trivandrum

A five-day-long Exhibition of Painting by famous Russian artist Evgeniya Maltseva, dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of Russian-Indian Diplomatic Ties, was opened at the Roerich Art Gallery of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum on September 10, 2017.

Evgeniya Maltseva had the credit of conducting more than 30 exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Her paintings are kept in many museums in Russia. She likes to use charcoal as the medium of her paintings.

The exhibition in Trivandrum, the first of its kind in India comprising more than 25 paintings, highlighted the culture of Russia and India. She also picked up models in Trivandrum who became the subjects for her paintings.

Evgenya Maltseva, who is an admirer of Fyodor Dostoevsky, made a live portrait of Perumbadavam Sreedharan, famous Malayalam novelist, whose novel “Oru Sangeerthanam Pole” is rated as one among the best sellers in Malayalam. This novel is based on the life of Dostoevsky.

Evgenya Maltseva, who is a Member of the Russian Artists’ Union and the creative Russia Artist Union, hails from the Izhevsk City. She learned the art of painting, in the academic point of view, from the Lyceum of Arts and Aesthetic No. 98, Izhevsk, Udmurt State University, The Art and Design Department, Izhevsk, Russian Art Academy, Kazan school of Modern Art, Museum of Modern Art Moscow, etc.

Mr Seetharam Yechuri, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), writers, members of the Roerich Art School, journalists, etc, visited the Gallery.

Eight newspapers and TV channels covered the exhibition.
