Music Programme Dedicated to the Russian Orthodox Church Celebrations at the RCSC in Trivandrum

The people of Trivandrum experienced a brilliant music programme by the Tchaikovsky Music Club at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) on August 28, 2017. The programme was dedicated to the Russian Orthodox Church celebration “Dormition of the Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary”.

Dr. Sam Ebanazir, Scholar on Theology, briefed the audience on the background history of the celebration of the “Dormition of the Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary” prior to the beginning of the programme. He also dwelt upon the circumstances of the celebration.

The 20-member music group presented more than 10 compositions, including songs dedicated to Virgin Mary. Compositions of both Russian and Western musicians were presented before an audience comprising over 70 people.

Accompaniment of musical instruments such a violin and piano was the highlight of the concert. The concert concluded with the famous song Ave-Marium.
