Internet Festival “India Congratulates Russia” at the RCSC in New Delhi

The Internet Festival “India Congratulates Russia” to mark the National Day of Russia, jointly organised by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), the International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs, and the BRICS International Forum, was opened at the RCSC in New Delhi on June 12, 2017. A Photo Exhibition “From Russia with Love” was also opened within framework of the National Day celebrations.

The significance of the occasion was the presence of Energy Analyst Dr. Sudha Mahalingam, Mahindra and Mahindra Engineer Sudhir Kashyap and Dr. Rahendra Jain, who were part of the successful “Afanasy Nikitin Expedition”, organised by the Indian organisation Adventures & Explorers with the support of the Embassy of India in Moscow and sponsored by the Tver Regional Administration, which undertook the expedition to retrace Afanasy Nikitin’s journey through Russia, the Middle East and Central Asia to India from November 12, 2006 to January 16, 2007.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Ms. Chitra Suresh, Deputy Secretary, Eurasia Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, emphasised on the development in Indo-Russian friendship and cooperation, and asked to participate in friendship-building process. She lauded the significance of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Russia and India.

Mr. Sergey V. Karmalito, Senior Counsellor, Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, in his observation thanked India for the overall support and efforts on strengthening the bilateral relations, and stressed that the friendship and cooperation between Russia and India should remain forever. He described that how India and St. Petersburg have similarities. He also shared his impression as to how he met the adventure expedition in 2006 in Moscow and hailed their commendable success.

Dr. Sudha Mahalingam, Dr. Rajendra Jain and Mr. Sudhir Kashyap shared their interesting experience of the expedition and registered their appreciation on the love and regard they received from the Russian people. They laid stress on carrying forward with added vigour the strengthening of bilateral relations.

Mrs. Purnima Anand, President, BRICS International Forum, and Mr. Arseny Starkov welcomed the gathering.

Mr. Mohammad Akil, representative of BRICS International Forum, with the aid of the multi-media presentation, described the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students which is to take place in Sochi and other 17 cities in Russian Federation, on October 14-22, 2017.
