Concert by Students of School of Russian Classical Ballet of the RCSC in New Delhi Marking International Day of Dance

The annual concert by the students of the School of Russian Classical Ballet of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) was held on April 28, 2017. The event, dedicated to the memory of the great Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya was aimed at marking the International Day of Dance.

It is recalled that the International Day of Dance was declared by the UNESCO and is marked every year since 1982. It is symbolic that the School of Russian Classical Ballet of the RCSC in New Delhi has been functioning since its establishment in November 1982 as well.

The current year forms  a new stage in the history of the School, because at present the School is headed by a professional pedagogue-choreographer, who got Ph. D in Pedagogics, former leading soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Julia Simayeva. According to Julia, the main principles of the teacher’s work and the components of success are a professional approach, attention to every child, patience and perseverance.

Students of all age groups (senior, middle and younger) took part in the concert. The programme included passages and variations from many classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Ugly Duckling, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Coppelia, and others.

The concert was bright, colourful, emotional and touching. The Concert Hall, recently named after Ambassador Alexander M. Kadakin, was packed to its capacity. Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends, among them representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, compatriots, employees of foreign missions, Indian lawyers, doctors, teachers, businessmen and journalists, admiring each and every item. Particular attention was paid to the professionally done impressive costumes of artists. The design of the scenes, light and audio-video accompaniments deserve special mention. There was continuous applause from the audience. The spontaneous response from the audience was a genuine expression of appreciation and recognition to the performance of the young artists. And this testified to the captivating presentation of the promising budding artists. The young artists experienced an incomparable sense of joy on public recognition.

After the concert, the Head of the Representation office of ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO in India, the Director of the RCSC, Mr. Fedor Rozovskiy, presented Certificates and souvenirs to the students. Parents and students of the School expressed their warm gratitude to Julia Simayeva and the staff of the RCSC who participated in the preparation of the evening.
